How to Change the Battery in a Ford Transit

The 12-volt battery in a Ford Transit is located under the driver's seat, so there are a few steps to take to change the battery properly with the right tools. In this video, we are using a memory saver to keep the ECU data intact while the battery is replaced. The first step is to slide the seat all the way back, then remove the two stop covers, and then remove the two stop bolts for the seat slide using a T45 Torx. With the armrest up, slide the seat all the way forward, then loosen the 3 fasteners of the carpet panel and remove it. Now remove the bolts holding the metal seat panel with an 8 mm spanner, detach the cable clips from the metal bar, and remove the metal bar. Next, unclip the cover for the negative battery terminal and remove it, unclip the cover for the battery and slide the battery cover forward to remove it. Now you can loosen the nut on the negative battery cable and remove it from the battery. Remove the breather tube from the side of the battery, and for vehicles with a single battery, remove the battery support, turn the battery, remove the positive battery terminal by first taking off the protective cap, loosening the positive battery cable nut, removing the cable, and consequently the battery from the vehicle. Now you can reinsert the battery, being careful not to hit the battery terminals, and follow the reverse procedure of what was previously described.
