Replacing the timing belt on a car is a complex task that is recommended to be carried out by qualified personnel. Below are the main steps to follow. Lift the vehicle and open the bonnet, remove the front right wheel and take off the splash guard. Remove the auxiliary belt. From above the engine bay, remove the coolant reservoir and then unscrew the fixing screws of the upper timing belt cover. Unscrew the fixing bolts of the right engine mount. Position the locking pins on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys to maintain the engine timing. Then, loosen the tensioner and remove it.
