Where is the rear hatch relay located in the Ford Escape?

If the electric hatch of your Ford Escape has suddenly stopped working, the first thing to do is check the status of the respective relay, the location of which is shown in this video. As we can see, it is located in the box inside the engine compartment, just to the right of the air filter, and is labeled "31F". There is no way to visually determine if a relay is damaged, but we have two different methods available: measure the voltage at both terminals or replace it directly with a functioning spare.
