To replace the alternator on a 2004 Ford Focus, first disconnect the battery, the alternator wires, and remove the belt from the pulley, taking care not to damage it. To remove the alternator, position yourself under the car. Remove the power steering hose, first from the quick-release side, then from the fixed side. Disconnect the power connectors and remove the power steering oil reservoir. Remove the belt, and now you can extract the alternator and proceed to fit the new one, securing it with the previously saved bolts.
