Replacement of Cylinder Head Fixing Bolts

When performing a repair that requires the removal of the cylinder head, it is good practice to use a new set of bolts for reattachment; start by cleaning the threads of the fixing holes with a tap of the correct diameter and pitch (use a thread gauge to select the pitch) to prevent swarf from entering the cylinders. Then, apply copper grease to the bottom of the thread and just below the head of the new bolts before installing them, to prevent oxidation and make future removal easier; proceed to tighten the bolts following a cross pattern using a torque wrench and then a calibrated wrench.

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level.
