Resetting the transmission of a 2012 Ford Focus is a straightforward task that you can do independently, aided by this brief video tutorial. First, enter the vehicle and turn on the ignition without starting the engine, and engage the electric handbrake. With the ignition still on, remove the keys and open the driver's door, releasing the handbrake. Next, close the door and insert the key into the run position, wait for the seatbelt warning chime to stop, and put the gearbox in neutral, then pull the handbrake. You will notice immediately that the TCM light has disappeared.
