Ford Fiesta - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Fiesta MK 6, Fiesta 6, MK VI - Years 2008-2017
Part: Brake pads
Operation: Replace the brake pads of the Ford Fiesta.

Let's see how to proceed to replace the brake pads of the Ford Fiesta: we start by putting the car on a lift, open the engine hood and the brake fluid reservoir, loosen the wheel bolts and lift the car. Finish removing the wheel, use a brush to remove dust from the brake caliper cover and spray some loosening agent on the fixing nuts to facilitate disassembly. Use a lever to release the pressure of the pads on the disc, slide off the caliper and hang it on the shock absorber with a hook. Use a lever to remove the old pads, clean the piston seat well with a brush, spray some WD40 and reposition the piston in its seat with the appropriate tool. Clean the pad seat with a brush and spray some cleaning product. Take the new pads and apply some mounting paste on the attachments, position them in their seats, remount the caliper and tighten the screws with a torque wrench. Apply copper paste to the brake pad backing plate and clean the disc with the appropriate spray, remount the wheel and tighten it with a torque wrench, lower the car and close the brake fluid reservoir.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
