- Years 1997-2004 In this new guide dedicated to all of you who own a Ford F 150 (year 1997-2003), we will discover together how to replace the engine air filter located inside the engine compartment. First of all, turn off the vehicle completely and let the engine cool down sufficiently for safety reasons. Then lift the front hood and locate the filter box inside the engine compartment. At this point, remove the protective cover and proceed with the replacement of the existing air filter with a new compatible one.
