Airbag Warning Light Reset Instructions

Model: Honda Civic MK 6 - Years 1995-2001

The SRS system includes the following components: driver’s front airbag module; passenger’s front airbag module; side airbag module; curtain airbag module; retractor group with pretensioner; airbag warning light; SRS control unit; side impact sensors; passenger’s front airbag ON/OFF indicator; passenger’s front airbag non-operational indicator. When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the control unit continuously monitors parameters to determine if a frontal or near-frontal impact is severe enough to require the deployment of the airbags or the seatbelt pretensioners. Generally, when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the SRS airbag warning light on the dashboard illuminates for about 5 seconds before turning off: if it remains illuminated, the control unit may have stored a fault in the system; to reset it, a diagnostic tool is not necessary, but it is sufficient to create a bridge in the yellow connector located under the steering column.
