Here’s how to put a Jaguar XKR with a stuck gearbox and flat battery into neutral: you will only need a coin. Ensure the handbrake is engaged; remove the front cup holder from the centre console, then lift the plastic cover underneath to reveal a red release lever. Insert the coin into the slot to the left of the red lever and turn it, as if unlocking a lock. This disengages the safety lock. Pull the red lever upwards perpendicularly to mechanically unlock the gear selector. While holding the red lever up, shift the gear lever from position "P" to position "N"; you will feel it move freely.
