In order to replace the windshield, it is first of all necessary to have the appropriate equipment and a certain experience as the windshield is glued to the bodywork with a high-strength mastic which must be practically cut in order to detach the glass; usually the bonding kit is also supplied with the purchase of the new windshield. The first operation to carry out is to remove the external gasket along the edge of the windscreen and unhook the rearview mirror. Make a slit at the lower edge of the windshield to pass the steel cable that will act as a blade for removing the sealing compound. Run the wire along the edges of the windshield until it is completely detached, taking care not to scratch the interior trim; once the windshield has been removed, carefully clean the edges of the body by removing all residues of the mastic. Then apply primer along the edges of the new windshield and bodywork, insert the mastic along the entire perimeter and position the new windshield (it would be advisable to tension it with straps); at this point, reposition the gaskets.
