Windshield Replacement Instructions

To replace the windshield, you first need the appropriate tools and some experience, as the windshield is bonded to the bodywork with a high-strength adhesive that must be cut to detach the glass. Usually, a bonding kit is provided with the purchase of the new windshield. The first step is to remove the external seal along the edge of the windshield and detach the rear-view mirror. Make a slit at the lower edge of the windshield to allow the steel cable to pass through, which will act as a blade for removing the sealing adhesive. Slide the wire along the edges of the windshield until it is completely detached, taking care not to scratch the interior trim. Once the windshield is removed, clean the edges of the bodywork thoroughly, removing all adhesive residues. Then, apply primer along the edges of the new windshield and the bodywork, insert the adhesive around the perimeter, and position the new windshield (it is advisable to tension it with straps); at this point, reposition the seals.
