How to locate and clean the EGR valve of the 2012 Kia Sportage

In this video we will identify and then clean the EGR valve of the 2012 Kia Sportage 2.0 diesel: this valve is located near the intake manifold, connected to a curved metal pipe, and is fixed with 3 bolts, which we will remove with a socket wrench. We disconnect the electrical connector with a safety clip, loosen the bolts and remove the valve gently and then inspect its condition. If it is full of soot and sticky, it is time to clean it. There are two methods: the first is to clean it with a specific EGR liquid: for example, we can find LiquiMoly 5168 on autogold. It costs 28.19 euros + 8.00 euros for shipping. We spray the product on the valve fins, let it sit for 10 minutes and then remove the deposits with a hard bristle brush; alternatively, we can use carburetor cleaner, but it must be used only in ventilated areas and using gloves and face protection. In cleaning, do not force the valve: if the internal lever is stuck, it may need to be replaced; we also clean the manifold with the same system we have chosen; we check and eventually replace the gasket as well.
