In this video, we see the position of the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor of the Kia C'eed. It is used to measure the absolute pressure in the intake manifold, helping the engine control unit regulate the air-fuel mixture, ignition timing, and engine load. In CRDi engines, it is connected to the intercooler, before the throttle valve. The most common causes of failure are dirt, like what we see in the video: sludge that blocks the sensor housing. Another issue can be caused by electrical damage, such as broken wires or oxidized connectors, especially in high-mileage vehicles; the same reason also leads to internal wear, which reduces the sensor's accuracy.
