Removing Gear Knob Gaiter on Land Rover Freelander 2

Pull the lower part, the gaiter, off the gear knob. You can now pull it upwards to remove it from the internal lever. To remove the knob, ensure that the small plastic lever is disengaging. Conveniently, the plastic (or trim) of the gear lever can be removed simply by pulling it off with your hands. You will need to pull it upwards and then backwards (towards the cabin). Disconnect the connector. At this point, with the gear casing in hand, look at the bottom and you will see the small clips that secure the gaiter. Release them with a flat screwdriver and remove it.
