To replace the gear knob on a Land Rover Freelander, you need to leverage the base of the leather gaiter to detach the internal clips that secure the gaiter to the base. Once these pins are released, disconnect the underlying connector by lifting the gaiter and unscrewing the knob from the top of the lever, completely removing everything. At this point, you can insert the new knob and the corresponding gaiter, connecting the underlying connector and securing the gaiter with the appropriate pins to the base.
