Complete Steering Wheel and Airbag Removal

Model: Land Rover Discovery MK 2, Discovery 2, L318 - Years 1998-2004

Removing the airbag requires great care. Before proceeding, activate the switch located on the dashboard that disables all installed airbags. The location of this device is clearly marked; if in doubt, refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. Start by unscrewing the retaining screws of the airbag module, accessible through the holes on the sides of the steering column using an Allen wrench. Loosen the screws and carefully pull the airbag cover, disengaging the plastic clips. Once the airbag is removed, disconnect the two connectors located on the back by releasing the small plastic tabs with a tool. Be careful not to drop the airbag module, do not place it near intense heat sources, do not carry it away, do not shake or hit it, as it may explode. Carefully unscrew the bolt on the column and remove the wiring. Now you can remove the steering wheel retaining bolt using a 13/16” socket wrench with an extension.
