How to Replace the Liftgate Strut on the Land Rover Discovery Sport Mk5

This guide shows how to replace the liftgate strut on the Land Rover Discovery Sport Mk5. First, after securing the liftgate in the open position, disconnect the retaining clip from the strut terminal using a flathead screwdriver. Remove the plastic cover from the handle with a trim removal tool; then, remove the two 8 mm bolts. Using the trim removal tool, detach the inner door panel to gain more working space around the electrical connectors. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the struts and remove the wires. Install the new strut in position and connect the wire. Reassemble everything and check the proper operation of the liftgate.
