The glow plugs are nothing more than electrical resistances which, when the panel is switched on, overheat in order to preheat the combustion chamber and create the best thermodynamic conditions for cold starting a diesel engine in which the explosion occurs by self-combustion of the mixture. diesel air generated by the compression of the mixture by the pistons; as there is therefore no external ignition, it is very important to preheat the combustion chamber, it is therefore understood that in the event of a cold start failure, one of the possible causes could be the malfunctioning of one or more glow plugs; a very quick method to check if the glow plugs are efficient is to check that they are not open; then connect the indicator light to the positive pole of the battery and with the tip touch the power pins of the glow plugs themselves inside the relative connector: if the light bulb turns on then the glow plugs are not interrupted.
