How to Remove the Centre Console from a Mazda Demio and Mazda 2

Here’s how to remove the centre console from a Mazda Demio or Mazda 2: work gently to avoid breaking the plastic clips. Start with the small divider, gently pulling it upwards. Remove the rectangular compartment by pulling up the panel secured by 4 clips. Under the removed compartment, you will find two cross-head screws, which you will unscrew. Now, remove the side panels. On the driver’s side, remove the plastic panel from the accelerator pedal by gently pulling it towards the inside of the cabin. Repeat the same procedure on the passenger side: these panels have clips and plastic guides. The disassembly of the gear lever is the most delicate part: lift the frame around the lever, pulling it upwards (it is secured by 4 clips). Now pull upwards the small plastic insert indicating the gears. You can now remove the lever. Next, disassemble the audio system and disconnect the cables. Remove the side panels and then unscrew the two screws securing the audio system to the centre tunnel, then pull the entire block towards you. Disconnect all electrical connectors. Now that everything is disconnected, unlock the tab that holds the console in the dashboard housing, and you can remove it entirely by pulling it back and upwards.
