How to Enter Maintenance Mode on a Mazda with Electronic Parking Brake

Model: Mazda Cx 9 TC - Years 2016-2024

Let's see how to engage the parking brake on a Mazda CX-9 (but it works for most Mazda models). Turn on the ignition, wait for the parking brake light to illuminate, enter maintenance mode, and press the brake pedal while pulling up and holding the brake switch for 5 seconds. Release and pull again for 5 seconds. The system emits a "beep" and the dashboard light flashes: maintenance mode has been activated. Now the maintenance brakes are released. The caliper pistons retract and are not held by the electronics. You can remove the pads and the rotor without damaging the EPB motor. After replacement, with your foot on the brake pedal, press the RPB switch for 5 seconds, release, and press for another 5 seconds. The system emits a "beep" and the light stops flashing, returning to normal mode.
