How to Replace Brake Fluid
Model: Mazda 3
MK 1, BK
- Years 2003-2009
Replacing the brake fluid is a moderately difficult operation that should be performed every 60,000 miles or every two years. The first thing to do is to empty the brake fluid reservoir until it is filled to the maximum with new fluid. Then, lift the car and remove the wheel. At this point, you will be facing the disc or drum. The bleed screws are covered by a rubber cap that preserves their cleanliness. Remove the rubber cap covering the screw and connect one end of a transparent tube. Insert the other end into a plastic bottle that will collect the brake fluid. Then, sit in the driver's seat, pressing the brake pedal several times, while someone outside holds the bleed valve open. This procedure of pumping the brake pedal and opening and closing the bleed valve should be repeated until you see new fluid coming out through the tube.
