Replacing Car Shock Absorbers

Shock absorbers are responsible for slowing down the movements of the suspension. If the car has covered many miles, they need to be replaced.

They can easily be found at an auto parts store. The replacement process is quite complex but can still be done independently, saving you a trip to the mechanic and money.

This guide shows how to replace them. You will need a compressor, or alternatively, a pneumatic gun, a spring compressor tool, and finally, a jack.

Once all the bolts are unscrewed, you can remove the wheel. Next, open the bonnet and remove all the screws found above the shock absorber mount.

Then, remove the two screws on the spindle and the one positioned on the stabiliser, which runs parallel to the "affected" shock absorber. The shock absorber will come out easily.
