How do you reset the Mercedes CLK control unit?

In order to reset the Mercedes CLK's control unit, you need to insert the ignition key into the corresponding slot, so that you can turn on the instrument panel: once the panel is on, you can press the accelerator pedal all the way down for about five seconds.
