Painting the Rear Fender

Before describing the painting process, here are some useful tips for the preparation phase.
Carefully straighten any dents and, if necessary, fill with body filler. Outline the area to be painted by marking it at sharp cut zones to avoid having to create blends. Sand this area, and if you want to maximize the durability of the paint job, always apply a coat of primer. Once the primer has dried, sand and clean the area to be painted thoroughly. After defining the area to be repainted, protect the rest of the vehicle with paper or a tarp. If you do not have a paint booth or a suction table, it is advisable to wet the floor to prevent dust from rising.
At this point, you can proceed with painting: if using metallic paint, first apply the base coat and then the clear coat.
Prepare the base coat by following the mixing ratio, adjust the spray gun (flow and pressure), and set the pressure to about 36 PSI; perform a few test sprays on paper before starting the painting. Then, begin the painting process starting from the edges and moving to the surface with a steady motion from left to right without interrupting the paint flow. Multiple coats will likely be necessary: wait a minimum of drying time between coats until achieving an even coverage.
To apply the clear coat, repeat the same painting sequence after thoroughly cleaning the spray gun (or using another one if necessary).
Wait for complete drying before removing the paper or creating dust by performing other tasks.
