How to Check Oil Level on a Mercedes SLK 200 R171

To check the oil level on a Mercedes SLK R171, you do not need to open the bonnet and check the dipstick, as the traditional dipstick is absent. The oil level is checked via the display on the instrument panel. Therefore, turn on the ignition (first click of the key) and press the "R" button located to the left of the display on the dashboard, near the speedometer, three times. The display will show the battery voltage. Press the up arrow button (or the navigation button upwards) once. The display will show the oil level, initially indicated with lines rather than a value; turn the key to position 2 and now the display will show the actual oil level, indicated with ticks or a message.
