Instructions for Removing the Grille

Model: Mercedes Sl MK 5, R129 - Years 1989-2001

The front grille is attached to the hood (not to the fascia like in most cars) and also features the manufacturer's emblem. To remove it, open the front hood and unscrew the mounting screws located at the back, which are accessible from the inside of the hood. Once the screws are removed, the grille will come off easily. You can also adjust the lever that controls the hood release to allow for opening and prevent accidental release. When you open the hood from inside the cabin, the first latch disengages, but the hood remains secured to the lock, which only opens with the lever mechanism.
