On Volkswagen Audi engines the failure of the auxiliary belt tensioner is quite frequent as a defect which tends to become particularly noisy generating quai a beat that could suggest an engine failure; replacing it is quite simple but you need to use the special key to unscrew the fan connected to the crankshaft pulley; once the fan has been removed, loosen the tensioner and remove the auxiliary belt; then unscrew the fastening pins of the tensioner and that of the upper transmission pulley; then install a new pulley and a new tensioner and then insert the new belt.
