Mercedes Classe S - Video tutorial

Model: Mercedes Classe S MK 3, W140 - Years 1991-1998
Part: Shock absorbers
Operation: Replacement of front shock absorbers

The replacement of the front shock absorbers on the car model in question is very simple to perform as the shock absorber and the spring are not coaxial and therefore it is not necessary to have the appropriate clamps to crush the spring; having said this, lift the car on the lift and remove the front wheel; then disassemble the pin that fixes the lower eye of the shock absorber to the suspension arm and support the latter with a jack to be able to remove the pin to point and then lower it; then access the engine compartment, remove the plastic cover present in correspondence with the dome and unscrew the fixing nut of the shock absorber; then insert the new one by immediately tightening this nut and then lift the car again, bring the suspension arm close to the shock absorber eye with the help of the jack to insert and lock the pin.
