Replacing Front Shocks

Replacing the front shocks on this car model is straightforward since the shock absorber and spring are not co-axial, so you do not need special clamps to compress the spring. First, lift the vehicle on a hoist and remove the front wheel. Then, remove the bolt that secures the lower eye of the shock absorber to the suspension arm and support the arm with a jack to slide out the bolt and lower it. Access the engine compartment, remove the plastic cover over the strut, and unscrew the shock absorber mounting nut. Install the new shock, tightening the nut immediately, then lift the vehicle again. Use the jack to bring the suspension arm close to the shock absorber eye to insert and secure the bolt.
