How to Repair the Dashboard of a Mercedes Vito/Viano W639

After removing the instrument cluster, disconnect the rear cover by removing the clips, then take off the front cover; insert a disc to protect the back of the dial and remove the side needles.

Use tweezers to free the LCD screen and disconnect the connector, detaching the base and the central needle. Now you can remove the electronic board.

Remove the protective tape and desolder the connector from the board, then clean with solvent. Position the screen leaving 7 pins free on the right side and secure it with the appropriate tape.

Solder each pin individually with a fine-tipped soldering iron at 350°C; remove the tape and clean with solvent; you will also need to replace the resistor indicated in the video, isolating it with the appropriate tape. Remove the rear film of the display, then reconnect the base and place the new display on top, removing the front film as well.

Reattach the base with the printing, replace the needles, and then the new screen: Now it’s time for the rear base, then the transparent front one, and the job is done: just reposition the cluster in the vehicle.
