The 2004 Mercedes E-Class locates the fuse for the cigarette lighter socket inside the fuse box under the hood, specifically on the right side of the battery. To access the box, release the cover by lifting the clips.

There are two fuses related to the socket; the first is numbered 15 at 7.5 Amperes, while the second is numbered 40 at 7.5 Amperes. To replace either of the two fuses, remove it with needle-nose pliers and then insert a fuse with the same amperage.
