In this video, learn how to locate and clean the mass air flow sensor of the Nissan Qashqai J11: the component is situated between the air filter and the intake pipe. The mass air flow sensor is a sensor that measures the amount of air entering the engine and sends it to the ECU, which controls the injectors that then spray diesel into the engine; if the sensor provides incorrect data, the engine will not perform optimally.

Before replacing it, remove and clean it, as it is conveniently located. Disconnect only the electrical connectors and remove the securing bolts; the sensor is the blue one visible in the video.

Close the housing to prevent anything from falling inside, then check the condition of the sensor on the bench. If the electrical part deteriorates, the error code displayed on the ECU is P0101; clean the contacts with a specific WD-40 product, which can be found on eBay with code 234596716534 for £12.00, plus £3.00 for delivery.

Spray from a distance of at least 10 cm; being a specific product, it dries quickly. Refit it, ensuring the arrow points towards the engine.

Replace the screws and reconnect the electrical connector. Operation completed.
