How to test the suspected faulty CVT transmission on a Nissan vehicle

What we see in the video is a very well-known test in the Nissan owners community to diagnose a very common problem with the CVT: excessive slipping of the primary pulley. The goal of the test is to measure the engine revolutions at which the transmission brakes the engine when the car is stopped with the brake pressed and the accelerator fully depressed. Worn components are unable to maintain grip, and the result is that the engine revolutions greatly exceed the expected "stall speed" because the transmission is slipping instead of transmitting power to the wheels, causing the revolutions to increase. The test puts a lot of strain on the engine, so it should only be performed for a few seconds and only if the vehicle is in perfect mechanical condition. We warm up the engine, park the car in a clear area, engage the handbrake, turn off all accessories. We press the brake pedal firmly with the left foot, and press the accelerator fully with the right foot. We observe the tachometer closely. The engine revolutions will rise rapidly and should stabilize at a specific value that we will note down. If the revolutions stabilize between 1800/2800 RPM, the transmission is doing its job; if they greatly exceed this value, it means that it is internally slipping and worn out; if it does not reach this value, it indicates a problem with the engine.
