This video shows how the electronic handbrake works on a Nissan Qashqai. This device can be released in two ways: by accelerating while pressing the pedal and engaging a gear; this way, the handbrake will automatically disengage.

The second method is to press the brake pedal and push the handbrake switch at the same time. Before starting the vehicle, ensure the handbrake light is off; otherwise, a warning will appear on the instrument cluster while driving, and the vehicle will emit an audible signal.

When parking, pull the switch upwards to activate the handbrake, and the light on the button will turn red. On vehicles with a manual gearbox, the handbrake activates automatically when the car is turned off.
