This article explains how to replace the fuel pump of the 2005 Nissan X Trail. You will need a flathead screwdriver for this operation.

To replace the fuel pump, open the rear door on the driver's side, remove the seat by pulling the appropriate lever, and then remove the covering carpet. You will now have access to the fuel pump compartment.

Unscrew the 4 securing screws of the cover to remove it, gaining access to the fuel pump. Remove the cover by prying it with the screwdriver and then twisting it to take it off. At this point, you will have access to the fuel pump; remove the old filter and install the new one, then reassemble everything.
