How to Replace the Cigarette Lighter Bulb on the Opel Astra H

In this video, you can see how to change the backlight bulb of the cigarette lighter on the Opel Astra H. First, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery (keep the radio code handy) and then remove the plastic part of the centre console located under the handbrake to expose the two small screws holding the console under the gear lever.

Once you have loosened this component, you can remove the console overlays, such as the ashtray cover, and then take out the part with the cigarette lighter.

Just in front of the socket, you will find the bulb, which you can pull out towards you. You can also replace it with an LED, then reinsert the bulb into its housing. Refit the piece back into its place, replace the ashtray, and tighten the screws of the console.

You can put back the base that you removed under the handbrake. Operation complete.
