To remove the starter motor on an Opel Astra, start by disconnecting the battery terminals in the engine bay. Lift the car using a jack or a column lift, then locate the starter motor. Use pliers to disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter motor, then unscrew the securing bolts with a socket wrench and remove the starter motor from the engine bay. Install the new starter motor, reconnect the power cables and secure it with the associated bolts.

Lower the car and reconnect the battery terminals.
