Clean the Throttle Control System

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006
Part: Throttle body

If there are fuel delivery issues with fluctuations in engine RPM, clean the throttle control system. You can clean the regulator without disassembling the entire unit by simply using a special spray, but complete disassembly ensures thorough cleaning. The first step is to loosen the air hose clamp and the fuel lines. Once the hoses are removed, you can observe the dirtiness of the regulator. After disassembling the complete body, use a brush and a tray with solvent to carry out a thorough cleaning. If the throttle is not touched, calibration is not necessary. Refit the hoses.

In this short video, you will see how to remove the ignition switch from a Mercedes C-Class (Mercedes W204). First, remove the chrome trim (if present) around the ignition switch by prying it off with a screwdriver (preferably something soft to avoid damaging the dashboard). Next, remove the plastic trim around the gauge cluster where the tachometer and speedometer are located, as well as the rectangular plastic trim surrounding the steering wheel. Simply unclip it. Now, press and push the ignition switch to release it from the housing, and you're done!
