Removing and Cleaning the EGR Valve

Model: Vauxhall Corsa Corsa C - Years 2000-2006

The EGR valve is responsible for taking some of the exhaust gases and reintroducing them into the intake: the purpose is to lower the combustion temperature and reduce NOx emissions. However, when the engine starts to lose efficiency, residues of oil and unburnt diesel end up in the intake along with the exhaust gases, which tend to dirty the EGR valve: therefore, it is advisable to remove and clean it periodically, especially to prevent clogging that could block it and damage the electric actuator. In the case of the vehicle in question, the valve is very easy to remove: it is located on the left side of the engine (when viewed from the front) and is connected to the large rubber hose. Once removed, clean the valve thoroughly, eliminating all residues of carbon build-up (if possible, it is recommended to remove and clean the manifold as well).
