How to Dismantle the Ignition Key Cylinder of the Opel Astra G Series

This guide shows how to dismantle and reassemble the ignition key cylinder of the Opel Astra G series. The first step is to remove the protective cover that supports the indicator stalk to access the key housing. At this point, using a small screwdriver or a small punch, rotate the ignition key to a vertical position and insert the screwdriver into the hole of the cylinder housing. Slightly turn the key until you engage the release lever of the piece. Pull out the cylinder. To reassemble the piece, press the metal tab in the key slot until it returns to its resting position. Now you can insert the key cylinder and push it into position until it engages the locking pin.
