In this video we see the replacement of the timing chain on the Opel 1.6 CDTI engine, and above all we are warned about the problems that can occur when we ignore the signals that the car sends us of the imminent chain breakage. In fact, the noise that the chain makes when it is about to break is unmistakable, and the one in the example was already so deteriorated that it had already worn out the plastic guide, damaging the metal and the aluminum casing. So here the damage was much more serious than just changing the chain: the car could go out of phase and bend the valves. However, the metal that was abraded ended up in the oil sump, circulates and consumes the bearings and piston rings, severely damaging the engine. Unfortunately in any case, the engine must be pulled down, the casing and oil sump opened, the camshaft cover, the intake manifold, to position the pin on the injection pump. So pay attention to the signals that the car sends at startup, otherwise very serious problems can occur.

How to Check the Oil Level on a Jeep Renegade?
