We need to remove the gear shift boot, put the lever in fourth gear to create more space, and then use a small screwdriver to press down on this spring we see on the left, pushing it down until it locks. If necessary, we can assist with our hands. It’s complicated, and having small hands definitely helps. When the spring is fully down, first and second gears engage well, but not reverse, so we will need to raise the spring again, adjusting it to a position where reverse also engages properly; if needed, we can grease the gears to ensure they move better.
