How to Replace the Gear Cable on a Peugeot Partner

Replacing the gear cable is more complex than it may seem: lift the vehicle and place it on sturdy axle stands. Disconnect the battery and use hooks to relieve the weight of the exhaust so that it can be moved sideways, creating workspace. Also, remove the protection located under the gearbox, then locate the two fastening points of the cable: one is on the metal base of the gearbox, and one on a plastic support further forward. Each fastening has a safety tab; once lifted, the cable should be free and can be removed. Insert the new cable, which can be easily found on auto-doc.co.uk, ensuring you search for the exact model of your vehicle, inserting it firmly into the slots until you hear the locking click of the tabs. Reposition the protection under the chassis, replace the exhaust pipe. Before lowering the car, check that the gear lever moves correctly. Then reconnect the battery and take it for a test drive.
