The rear suspension of the Peugeot 106, especially in the earlier models, was famous for being "bouncy," which made it very popular among rally drivers on dirt roads, although it could be quite unsettling for everyday road driving. The rear of the 106, as the YouTuber points out, has a stabilizer bar (also known as a "Panhard" bar) that controls its movement. This system, with its trailing arms and torsion bar, is lightweight and economical, but less precise compared to a multilink or a solid axle; under load, the geometry tends to change, causing a nervous effect in corners. Additionally, over time, the shock absorbers lose effectiveness, the bearings of the arms and the bushings of the bar wear out, increasing play and instability.
