How to Remove the Front Shock Absorbers from Peugeot 308

Before removing the front shock absorbers, you must remove the windscreen frame and the wipers. To assist with the assembly, mark the closing point of the wipers so you know exactly where to mount them. Remove the plastic covers of the wiper using a flathead screwdriver and with a socket wrench with an 8 mm insert, unscrew the nuts. To facilitate the removal of the arms, use a removal tool. Extract the windscreen frame and with a socket wrench with a 13 mm insert, unscrew the nuts that secure the shock absorber cups a few turns. To unscrew the nut of the shock absorber support, use an 8 mm Allen key and a 21 mm socket wrench. Lift the front of the vehicle and remove the two front wheels to proceed with the replacement of the shock absorbers. Remove the stabiliser link with a socket wrench and an Allen key. Remove the ABS sensor hose and the brake hose. Using a socket wrench and a T18 insert, unscrew the nuts at the base of the shock absorbers and with a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the three screws that secure the shock absorbers to remove them. To remove the spring from the shock absorber, you need to use a special tool and an Allen key. When the shock absorber is free from the spring, use an Allen key and a 21 mm socket to remove the nut from the cup. Remove the foam pad, the bellows, and the upper spring support. Insert the new shock absorber inside the spring and pump the cylinder as much as possible to tighten it around it. Fit the upper spring support, the bellows, the foam pad, and the lower spring support, the cup, and screw the bar nut with a 2 mm key and a 7 mm Allen key. Remove the shock absorber from the insertion tool and insert it into the support. Screw in the support and clean the hub with a wire brush to facilitate the procedure. Insert the screw with the torque wrench and reconnect the various hoses. Refit the link on the upper support and re-tighten. Complete by tightening with a torque wrench. Refit the wheels and lower the vehicle. Insert the 8 mm socket wrench to insert the screws into the upper support. Finally, remove the frame and the wiper arms.
