In this video, we see the classic case where a manufacturer (PSA/Stellantis), in an attempt to solve the issue of the belt wearing out in an oil bath, creates another problem by undersizing the chain, which was supposed to resolve the issue. The solution proposed by the YouTuber is to simply replace the 7 mm chain with another 7 mm chain, an operation that has a negligible replacement cost, while replacing the castle, camshaft, bearings (in addition to the 8 mm chain) significantly increases the cost of the operation - to which the cost of labour must also be added - to astronomical levels. Certainly, one replaces an undersized component with an identical one, and the components that we would replace with the other eventuality may already be worn and not last as expected. In conclusion, this is a realistic and conscious maintenance strategy, acting preventively and listening for the first signs of noise, without waiting for a breakdown: a practical way to cope with a defect without getting ripped off.
