If the car key circuit still does not work after replacing the battery, the problem may be worn or dirty contacts inside the device. These contacts are coated with a conductive wire and may have failed. With a bit of dexterity, you can resolve the issue. Once the device is opened, carefully clean the contacts using a very small screwdriver to remove any dirt that may have compromised the contact between the various surfaces, rendering the device non-functional.
