Removing Retaining Pins for Rear Brake Pads

Model: Peugeot 406 MK 1 - Years 1995-2005

The rear brake pads are secured to the caliper by two pins that pass through the holes in the pads and insert into the holes in the caliper, all secured with retaining clips. The first step to extract these pins is to remove the wheel and take out the clips. At this point, the pins should be removable with a pin punch, but due to excessive corrosion, they may be stuck. You will need to find a solution to free them using some spray and also apply a hammer and chisel. Avoid heating as this may damage the rubber parts of the caliper; if you must heat them, use an induction system rather than an open flame.
