Timing Belt Replacement

Model: Peugeot 406 MK 1 - Years 1995-2005

Access the engine bay and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery; then remove the air filter housing, the plastic engine cover, and the starter motor by moving it away from its seat. Next, remove the engine management unit, the right front wheel, and the wheel arch liner to gain easier access to the crankshaft pulley. Loosen the auxiliary belt tensioner and remove it to then disassemble the crankshaft pulley. Proceed to remove the timing belt cover and the engine mount. Refit the crankshaft pulley and rotate it until the timing marks align, inserting locking pins into the pump pulley and flywheel. Support the engine with a jack and complete the disassembly of the engine mount. Re-remove the crankshaft pulley, loosen the tensioner, and extract the timing belt; replace the bearings, oil seal, water pump, and tensioner included in the kit. Fit the new timing belt, tension it, and adjust the tensioner. Remove the pins and reassemble everything.
