How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Peugeot 406

Learn how to replace the timing belt on a Peugeot 406. Lift the car on a column lift or jack and remove the front wheel using a screwdriver (remove the right wheel arch liner). Use a spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. Use a socket to unscrew the tensioner pulley securing bolt, remove the water pump as shown in the video. Fit the new water pump, the tensioner, and the belt itself, and tighten everything with a socket. Finally, fit the rivets with the associated wheel arch liner and reattach the wheel with the tyre to the vehicle.
