How to Replace the Alternator on the Peugeot 508 1.6 HDi

To replace the alternator on the Peugeot 508, start by gripping the tensioner with a spanner and pulling it. Insert an Allen key into the hole to lock the tensioner, then remove the drive belt and inspect it. Remove the 3 bolts (10 mm) from the tensioner and take it off. Remove the pressure sensor bolt using an 8 mm spanner, then remove the fastening device holding the sensor pipes with a small flat screwdriver. Remove the intercooler pipes by loosening the clips that hold them. Remove the live cable bolt from the alternator (do not forget to disconnect the battery first). Remove the two outer bolts (16 mm) on the alternator. Using a 16 mm spanner, remove the upper inner bolt on the alternator. Once the bolt is removed, use a lever to lift the alternator forward. Remove the bracket near the DPF, and using a 16 mm spanner, remove the lower inner bolt of the alternator, then you can take out the alternator. To refit it, follow the reverse procedure of disassembly.
